 Honing Marble

Marble and Natural stone floors and tops that have high-traffic areas can become dull and lose their brilliance when dirt and other sediments (even sand from the bottom of your shoes) can start eroding the stone's natural crystals. All that weight from the foot forces the dirt lying on the surface into the marble, this can cause an abrasion or fracturing of the delicate crystals in natural stone. The best and most proper way to bring back the crystals ability to reflect light is to re-hone the floor.
If your marble surface has scratches, stains, watermarks, or signs of wear, you would need honing service. Honing a marble finish is in the category polishing. However, honing is a final finishing operation conducted to a surface finish using abrasive stones or pads to remove minute amounts of material to sharpen or smooth with a whetstone. This process differs from polishing, in that it does not leave a high shine; rather a honed marble leaves your marble smooth with a matt/hone finish.

Testimonials

I wanted to thank you for the restoration work you and your crew completed in our building. The marble entries and bathrooms look wonderful! All of us have been thrilled with the results of your work, even agreeing the stone looks better now than when it was installed. Angelo and Sergio were pleasures to work with day in and day out. They were proud to show our staff their procedures to polish the marble. I hope they enjoyed their time here, as it was quite a chore to get through all 158 rooms. It is always exciting to find another organization that recognizes the importance of excellence. We are glad to have started a relationship with Marble Doctors, and look forward to more projects and shiny marble!"
